Connecting a Custom Domain
Using a custom domain (like www.yourstore.com) gives your store a professional appearance. Nuvi handles SSL certificates automatically once your domain is connected.
Prerequisites
- A registered domain name from any domain registrar (GoDaddy, Namecheap, Google Domains, etc.)
- Access to your domain's DNS settings
- A paid Nuvi plan (custom domains are not available on the free plan)
Step 1: Add Your Domain in Nuvi
- Go to Settings > Domains in the admin panel.
- Click "Add Custom Domain".
- Enter your domain name (e.g.,
www.yourstore.com). - Nuvi will display the DNS records you need to configure.
Step 2: Configure DNS Records
Log in to your domain registrar and add the following DNS records:
- CNAME Record — Point
wwwtoyourstore.usenuvi.com - A Record (for root domain) — Point
@to the IP address shown in your Nuvi settings
Important: DNS changes can take up to 48 hours to propagate worldwide, though most changes take effect within 1-2 hours.
Step 3: Verify Domain
After configuring DNS, return to Settings > Domains and click "Verify". Nuvi will check that your DNS records are correctly configured. Once verified:
- An SSL certificate is automatically provisioned (HTTPS).
- Your store will be accessible at your custom domain.
- The Nuvi subdomain will redirect to your custom domain.
Troubleshooting
If verification fails:
- Wait at least 2 hours for DNS propagation.
- Double-check the DNS records match exactly what Nuvi shows.
- Make sure there are no conflicting DNS records (old A records or CNAME records pointing elsewhere).
- If using Cloudflare, set the proxy status to "DNS Only" (gray cloud) during setup.
