Understanding Commissions
Nuvi charges a small commission on each transaction processed through your store. This helps fund platform development, infrastructure, and support. Here is everything you need to know about how commissions work.
Commission Structure
The commission rate depends on your subscription plan:
- Free Plan — 5% per transaction. Higher rate reflects the zero monthly subscription cost.
- Starter Plan — 3% per transaction. Reduced rate for growing stores.
- Growth Plan — 1.5% per transaction. Lowest rate for high-volume sellers.
- Enterprise Plan — Custom rates negotiated based on volume. Contact sales for details.
These commissions are separate from payment processor fees (Stripe or iyzico fees apply on top of Nuvi commissions).
How Commissions Are Calculated
The commission is calculated on the total order amount including product prices and shipping fees, but excluding taxes. For example:
- Order subtotal: $100.00
- Shipping: $10.00
- Tax: $9.90
- Commission base: $110.00 (subtotal + shipping)
- Starter plan commission (3%): $3.30
Checking Your Commission Balance
To view your commission history and balance:
- Go to Settings > Billing in the admin panel.
- Click on the "Commissions" tab.
- You will see a breakdown of commissions per order, monthly totals, and your current balance.
Commissions are deducted automatically from your payouts if you use Nuvi Payments. If you use your own Stripe or iyzico account directly, commissions are invoiced monthly.
Reducing Your Commission Rate
The simplest way to lower your commission rate is to upgrade your plan:
- Moving from Free (5%) to Starter (3%) saves $20 per $1,000 in sales.
- Moving from Starter (3%) to Growth (1.5%) saves $15 per $1,000 in sales.
- If your monthly sales exceed $5,000, the Growth plan almost always pays for itself in commission savings.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Are refunded orders charged commission? — No. If you process a full refund, the corresponding commission is credited back to your account.
- Do partial refunds reduce the commission? — Yes, proportionally. A 50% refund reduces the commission by 50%.
- When are commissions settled? — Commissions are settled on a monthly basis. You receive a detailed invoice by the 5th of each month.
